Differences
Everybody who saw the movie will notice that there are some differences between the script and the movie. In my opinion, the movie is better because it contains more mystery, and doesn't stop the storyline for certain events.
Example: the question
In the movie Neo knows the name of Morpheus but he doesn't know why, just like the question 'What is the Matrix'. It are innate questions he has learned to live with, but meanwhile he keeps searching for the answers.
In the script Neo is chatting on the internet on a hackerssite where they are discussing about the existence of a certain 'Morpheus' and the rumours of the existence of 'the matrix':
JACKON: I heard Morpheus has been on this board.
SUPERASTIC: Morpheus doesn't even exist and the Matrix is nothing but an advertising gimmick 4 a new game.
TIMAXE: All I want to know is Trinity really a girl?
LODIII: 87% of all women on line are really men.
QUARK: The Matrix is a euphemism for the government.
SUPERASTIC: No, The Matrix is the system controlling our lives.
TIMAXE: You mean MTV.
SUPERASTIC: I mean Sega.
FOS4: ALL HAIL SEGA!!!
Instead of this chat Neo is now searching old newspaper articles...
Example: Gizmo
Gizmo? I thougt that was a Chinese Furby from mister Spielberg? Uhm.. yeah, but it's also a character in the script who isn't in the movie. (sequels anyone?). When Neo is bugged Gizmo is the guy that gets the bug out of his stomach together with his assistant Hacksaw. He has all the equipment for this difficult operation.
These scenes where probably canceled because it has nothing to do with the actual plot of the movie. At the time they where shooting the film the Wachowski brothers innovated the technique and made a portable version of the equipment. Trinity had the honour to debug Neo on the backseat of a car...
Example: more agents
In the script there are a lot more confrontations with agents and Trinity and the gang are having the hardest time getting Neo safe to the places they want.
In the movie Neo is picked up by Trinity under the bridge where he is waiting. In the script Morpheus wants him to take the Howard Line south. In the train he meets Apoc asking Neo to follow him. Unfortunately they ran into some agents. You have to read the script to figure out how this ends because I'm not going to tell you.
The list goes on and on with all sorts of small changes. Try to find out the rest yourself!
