STRIKES
Hollywood Reporter posted the following: The threatened Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America strikes likely will not affect production on Warner Bros.' sequels to "The Matrix," the second and third installments of which are scheduled to be shot consecutively, starting before the potential strikes. Sources at the studio confirmed that if and when the strikes hit, the cast and crew would take a voluntary "hiatus," during which production will focus on special effects.
CARRIE-ANN TALKS TO THE CHICAGO SUN TIMES
The Chicago Sun Times interviewed Carrie Anne Moss and she talked about Matrix 2:
Although details on the sequels are top secret, Moss will reveal that shooting the back-to-back sequels begins in March in Australia, San Francisco and Chicago. The sequels will be shot simultaneously and require a two-year commitment on her part. And the work begins soon with training sessions starting after Labor Day.
"I read the first sequel script a month ago and I was blown away," she says.
In fact, Moss takes these "Matrix" movies so seriously that she was even notoriously picky about how she would read the new scripts. "I picked my time. I didn't want to read it flying. I wanted to give the new movies my complete energy. So I waited until I was done with shooting. I curled up in my bed and read it."
Moss has admitted that she didn't "completely get" the first script when she originally read it. "This one I got right away. Of course, I have to go back and get all the little things. But I'm in no hurry to read it again. I want to let it simmer for a little while, which is my process. I know how to save it a little bit. To let it happen."
Next month (October/November) when "Matrix" training begins, Moss' life will be about the inevitable aches and pains that go along with these Matrix flicks. "I think my training will be different this time because for the first movie, I had never done work on wires before," she says. Moss was put through the paces by Hong Kong martial arts mavens, gymnastics gurus and stunt experts.
KEANU TALKS TO EON MAGAZINE
EON Magazine talked with Keanu Reeves and discussion, of course, went to The Matrix:
Reeves begins training in November for parts two and three of the Wachowski Bros. trilogy, which will begin filming next spring.
"I think that they are going to shoot two and three where like one day, it will be two, and the next day, it will be three," he says. "It's just a grander scale of shooting out of sequence in a normal film."
Reeves is intentionally vague about what is going to happen in MATRIX 2 & 3, however. "You get Zion in the beginning, and you get to meet the world of Zion. Then, the story unfolds," he laughs.
MATRIX DVD WINS 2 DIVI'S
The 3rd Annual DiVi Awards Reception honoring the best in DVD gave the Matrix awards for "Best DVD-ROM Support" and "Best Overall DVD Release" on August 23, 2000.
THE MATRIX WINS 3 MTV AWARDS
Probably more important then the Oscars since it's an Award from the fans and not from a group of people who went to school for it. The Matrix got nominations in 6 out of 10 categories, including Best Movie, Best Male Performance (Keanu), Breakthrough Performance Female (Carrie-Ann), Best On-Screen Duo (Keanu and Lawrence), Best Action Sequence, and Best Fight Sequence. On the 8th of June they got three awards:
Best movie
I certainly agree with that, but that's no surprise...
Best male performance
Keanu Reeves got the Award for this category. He did an excellent job by playing the innocent computernerd and the unbeatable action-hero inside The Matrix.
Best fight sequence
Laurence Fishburne and Keanu Reeves standing in a Japanese Style room build on the same rules as The Matrix. Inside this virtual environment, Morpheus teaches Neo how to fight inside The Matrix. "I can only show you the door, you're the one who has to go through it..." We love it!
THE MATRIX WINS 4 OSCARS!
It's
incredible! Every nomination for The Matrix has turned into an oscar! And of
course they deserve it! It should have been more!

Is that all?
Yes, unfortunately. But as you might know, the people from the Academy Awards are not always right. I mean, did you like "The English Patient"? OK, "American Beauty" was fun and refreshing but better than The Matrix? I think it's a matter of taste...
