MXO: CREATING OR JOINING A CREW
Source: <The Matrix Online>

On your own, you'll probably lose, no matter which side you're on. Join a crew in the upcoming Matrix Online universe, or start one yourself:

Crew is a group of two to twelve characters who group together to pool their resources and share the facilities of a Hovercraft. The leader of a Crew is called a Captain. A Crew is a persistent group that lasts until the Crew is disbanded. A Crew is affiliated with an Organization. Captains of Crews are the only individuals who can create and join Factions.

Forming a Crew

In order to form a Crew, a character must have a sufficiently high reputation score with the Organization that Crew is to be affiliated with. Once a character has achieved this Reputation level, he can begin recruiting. Two characters are required for a new Crew to be formed. To form a Crew, a character must successfully recruit another individual using the Crew UI. If the recruited individual accepts, a Crew is formed and the character who initiated the recruitment is designated as the Crew Captain. A Character can never be in more than one Crew at a time.

Naming the Crew

Upon successful formation of a new Crew, the Captain will be prompted on the Crew Management panel to name the Crew. A default name is presented in the form of "Character Name's Crew". Crew names must be unique, and must pass through the Obscenity Filter. Once a Crew name has been chosen, it cannot be changed.

Organization Affiliation

Crews receive equipment allocation based on their collective Reputation with an Organization. A Crews Reputation is the sum of all the members Reputations. The Crew's Reputation does not need to be updated more than once per day.

Recruiting Crew Members

Other characters can be added to the Crew by selecting them and clicking the "Invite" button on the Crew interface panel. If a target character is already a member of another Crew, the Invite button is not available. Any Crewmember can invite other characters to join the Crew, until the maximum number of characters is met (twelve Crew members). Characters must be in the same general area in order to send and receive Crew invitations. Characters in Interlock cannot receive Crew invitations. In this situation, the player sending the invitation receives an error message, stating that this character is unavailable.

MXO: HACKER ABILTIES
Source: <The Matrix Online>

The Hacker discipline is the first step towards understanding how everything and everyone is interconnected in the Matrix. Hackers are able to use these connections to send harmful viruses to corrupt the code of enemies, patch up the code of allies using Restore Health 1.0, and can make it harder for enemies to engage them in close combat with Gaussian Blur 1.0. Hackers also possess the ability to break into computers in the Matrix, ferreting out secrets that some would prefer to keep hidden.

MXO: SPY ABILTIES

Brute force isn't always an acceptable approach; sometimes a little finesse is needed. That would be where the Spy comes in. The Spy discipline contains abilities basic to the art of stealthy combat, so if you find yourself in a situation where an assassination or theft is required, these skills are the ones to upload. The Spy's ability to strike unseen and vanish back into the shadows makes them frightening opponents and valuable allies.

MXO: OPERATIVE ABILTIES

The Operative discipline focuses on mastering the ebb and flow of the Matrix in order to perform amazing feats of strength and agility. Abilities in the Operative discipline tree will produce the most directly combat-oriented characters of the Matrix. Whether lining up trick shots with a rifle or devastating opponents with martial arts finesse, Operatives are constantly striving to improve how they use the Matrix in order to enhance themselves and their combat techniques.

MXO: AWAKENED ABILTIES
Source: <The Matrix Online>

One of the great features of The Matrix Online is that players have the ability to upload and download multiple skill sets of disciplines and abilities during the normal course of play. The Awakened discipline is the first such major ability tree when players enter the world for the first time. This is the first of nearly 70 articles about The Matrix Online Discipline tree that you will see in the coming weeks and months.

Awakened is the core ability and discipline of all characters starting out in the Matrix. One might think of it as the measure of the characters’ belief in themselves, as well as their understanding of the Matrix as a whole. A player must have Awakened loaded in their ability tree to use any other ability.

Main Abilities:

The Awakened Discipline’s ability set is laid out in several branches, geared towards providing players with a variety of basic combat skills, self-defense skills, and general personal buffs. Some are accessible from the moment one enters the game, while others cannot be accessed until a character has raised the level of his basic Awakened ability and then taken other abilities as well.

Some of the abilities have obvious connections with the Coder, Hacker or Operative discipline trees, and others are generalist abilities that any character loadout might find useful. Read below for more details on the various skill branches for the Awakened discipline.

RADIO FREE ZION
Source: <Radio Free Zion>

Now on air in MegaCity in the Beta test of the Matrix Online: Radio Free Zion:

Radio Free Zion (RFZ) stands as a perfect example of the ingenuity and creativity of the game’s population. The seed of this project was planted during a 4:00 AM discussion amongst fellow beta testers. Soon after, Radio Free Zion was established as a dynamic and engaging way of interacting with the community within The Matrix Online. RFZ has continued to refine their efforts by expanding their broadcast schedule along with beta hours, to 24/7. The influence of this round-the-clock operation extends around the world, as there are now 20 DJ’s on the RFZ on-air talent roster broadcasting live from locations across North America, Great Britain, Sweden, and Australia. We asked Sundog, founder of Radio Free Zion to share some thoughts on how the project was progressing: “At first, we thought it would be mostly a part-time effort, but the response was so overwhelmingly positive that we soon realized that this community deserves nothing less than 24/7 coverage of news, entertainment, and events for their enjoyment“

Their eclectic dance mixes are one of the many factors contributing to a soon-to-be-legendary nightlife in Mega City. In addition to their regular broadcasting, and their own community events, RFZ has been a major supporter of several other player run events as well. RFZ explained their support of player run events: Our first huge event was the Redpill Duel Tourney v1.0, sponsored by DJ Sandman, and the response was phenomenal – the community really proved that organized events were a welcome addition to the game. We love to get invited to an event that someone else has taken the time to organize, and we try to participate in as many different events as we can.” Sundog added.
